LEO Learns: An initiative for lifelong learning
Live tutoring sessions for students and persons of all ages
LEO's Tutor.com Learning Suite services include the K-12 Student Center, College Center and Adult Career Center.
- Each center includes either Live Homework Help® (K-12) or LiveTutor (college and adult), which offers one-to-one tutoring; ProofPoint™, real-time writing help; and 24/7 access to the SkillsCenter™ Resource Library.
- Students access LEO's Tutor.com Learning Suite website by authenticating into the Library's system at www.tutor.com/leo, selecting the subject in which they need tutoring and then they are connected immediately to a qualified tutor. To authenticate, simply ask at your LEO library for your community's free pass-code, available to all ages.
- Learning takes place in Tutor.com's proprietary, web-based, online classroom. Subjects offered include math, science, social studies and language arts for all ages; resume and GED help for college students and adults; and help preparing for the citizenship test for adults.

HOW IT WORKS:
The learner and tutor communicate in a virtual classroom via Instant Messenger. Some tutoring includes use of two-way white boards, especially helpful for math and science problems.
The tutor sees the learner's grade level and his or her subject or area of need. The learner sees the tutor's first name and last initial.
The tutor is not allowed to share personal or identifying information.
Tutor.com offers 1,300 tutors who work from their home or office from throughout North America. Tutors include certified teachers, college professors and professional tutors, all with proven subject experience in the fields they tutor. All tutors have passed criminal background checks and comply with the Children's Online Protection Act and Children's Internet Protection Act. For more information, see www.tutor.com.
